Song of the Forest

"Superb...kept the audience enthralled...both magical and educational." -- Roberta Smith, Manager of Education, Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Song of the Forest

- Written by Peter Duschenes
- Directed by Peter Duschenes

Created around the Québecois legend of the "Chasse-galerie" or "The Flying Canoe" this colorful Platypus production explores the music of Canada. Follow the coureurs-de-bois who sang as they paddled across Canada's many waterways; the buffalo hunters of the prairies, and the roving lumberjacks who made music around the shanty stoves when their day's work was done; the sailors and fisherman from our maritime provinces who sang as they ran up the sails or pulled in their nets. Also exploring the music of our native people, this educational and entertaining show celebrates the richness of our musical heritage while extolling the value of music in our lives today.
